Abuja Interschool Chess Competition was debuted in 2012 and the nineth edition will come up this year. also learning from the experience of organising the last editions, we are taking concrete steps to sustain the initiative, build on the experience, raise the profile and widen the reach.Olumawu School through a standing coordinator and a secretariat located in the school organises the event.

Encouragement of Interschool co curricular activities is generally witnessing a re-birth in the country and the aim here is to use this platform to introduce chess among the activities available to children in schools in Abuja and its environs.

The value of this development is not only the social content of fostering interactions among this age bracket but more fundamentally, the imperative of reviving the life beyond television and gaming that has almost subsumed the consciousness of the average toddler and teen of this generation.
